Summary and tough questions

From where I last left off in the book LoveTorn, I have read that the main character has fallen in love with the man she met. She is constantly trying to get away from her true self, but it is difficult to become someone new in a matter of days. Shalini is trying to make it seem as if she was someone completely different from what her family is. The man she loves know the new side of her not the side of tradition and arranged marriage. Her marriage has been arranged since she was 3, now imagine that! If I had an arranged marriage oh man would I be mad!! Either way Shalini is trying to tell her boyfriend but just doesn't seem to know how.
One of her situations would be to try to come clean to her boyfriend. Some thoughts in her head would be, will he accept me? Will he leave me? She is always debating on wether she should tell him or not. This will be a person vs. self conflict because it has to do with what she believes.

Summary and character analysis

In the book i've been reading Lovetorn by Kavita Daswani the book mainly is about, This girl who leaves the the U.S and falls in love, but at home she already has a fiancé. Her family had already arranged her marriage before the time she was born. The main character finds herself in a sticky situation. The person she loves only knows her by what she tells him. So their relationship now is a lie.
From what I've read I can say that the main character is desperate to get away from tradition. If she needed to leave her country and remove herself completely then it just shows she wasn't liking the way she lived before. She is also desperate for love and a new beginning. The only way she got it was to leave.

Summary and memory moments

From where I left off in Go ask Alice, Alice has been getting her stuff in order. She is now living a great life with her family but  before it all she was in a crazy house, She hated it. One day she got released and she was very happy, she knew she wasn't crazy. The time that she was there it helped her get away from the drugs and the drama, she met knew people and found herself. The time she got released she thought she had gotten through it all, she had a great family, great friends, and great relationships. So she had everything she ever wanted. She no longer needed the diary. To find out what happened to her after putting away her last diary, read Go ask Alice.
When Alice was in the crazy house she always remembered how her family treated her and she wanted to go home. It was better than being in that hospital. She was determined to get out because of all the memories she is missing with her siblings and parents. Alice never really liked being separated from her family, but she coped with it. With the help of her family she was able to get released. Alice looks back and see's that she couldn't get through it without her family.

Summary and tough questions

From where I left off in Go Ask Alice I have read that Alice is living a better life but only for some short amount of time.  Alice seems to be living a calm life but then always goes back to the old ways. Now Alice has taken on a new job, she is a cleaner in an expensive hotel and the owners adore her. Alice and her roommate are going to eat dinner with them this Sunday. Alice is trying to get back on track but now she has to work harder to pay off her drug money dues.
One of her tough questions would be, "Should I just give up", She begins to realize that living on her own is really hard and she wants to end it. Her only escape are drugs. Alice sometimes has her own type of saying that helps her get through things. She really is trying her best in life but she always ends up in failure.

Summary and Character Analysis

In the story "Go Ask Alice" I have read that Alice becomes a 15 year old drug user. In that time she left home and began living on her own with one of her roommates. She had this boyfriend named Roger who she wanted to live with forever. When Alice left her so called horrible house she believed she was free. Through that struggles came and she began to see that she couldn't do it on her own. I believe that even though she was going through some hard times she didn't need to act in a certain matter.
Alice is a heartbroken and torn 15 year old. She doesn't have any moral support from her family. She is really and out-stander. Alice would be known as the one that no one talks to. From reading the book a can see that this Alice is looking for some closure and guidance from something, but she cant figure out what.

Would We Be Killed? (Native Americans)

American Indians were marginalized and made to feel as if they didn’t exist in the way of having to kill off every part of their culture. In the text it states that "the students were given Christian first names. Ota Kte was given the name Luther. As for a last name, school officials usually translated each child’s Indian name into English. But Ota Kte’s name meant “plenty kills,” which was considered too “savage.” So Ota Kte took his father’s name, which is how Ota Kte became Luther Standing Bear. Along with his new name came a new look." This proves that anything that portrayed an American Indian it was to be cut off and forgotten about. They became different people.
The purpose of Shanice Britton's essay was to inform us of how her culture is really no different from any other human. Shanice lives a normal teen life and it is very similar to people who aren't in tribes. Shanice was raised knowing how to do things that her tribe would do. She was taught to do beading and sewing and other things. In the text it said that " Another thing that elders in my tribe taught me was how to weave and do beadwork". Even though she knows how to do these things she is still and American and is like any other person. I as a reader can see that Shanice is just like me, maybe a little older but she is into things my friends would like. I wouldn't treat her any different.

Summary and Memory moments

From where I left off in the book A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer I have read many new things. The main character David is now in a foster home but then gets moved around into different homes. In the book it talks about David being "bad" or causing trouble, thats the reason why he is being relocated into a different home. One home was just a bunch of trouble with children, the home that he is in now is somewhat similar.  The home he is in know has a lot of screaming within the marriage, the foster mom treats David like her personal toy. So far I have read that the fosters are getting a divorce over an affair and David is put in the middle.
David has lots of memory moments in the foster home he is in now. Since the couple is always fighting he has the fear of having the mom take it out on him In the book it states that he sits in the corner with a cover over his head expecting punishment but never gets hit. He is always worried but realizes that nobody is like his mother, at least his foster parents. The foster dad always reminds him of his real dad, very quiet and to himself. David likes his new home but is always worried of getting the punishment.
